BIRD PLATE · MARIE-YAÉ SUEMATSU 17 cm ø

Handmade in Paris by artist and illustrator Marie-Yaé Suematsu, this expressive ceramic plate features one of her characteristic birds in deep blue and black. The decorative patterns were inspired by a dress seen in a Japanese anime film – a detail Marie-Yaé shared with me during a visit to her Paris atelier. Fluid forms and painterly variations in the enamel glaze give each piece its individual character.

Please note: Acidic foods such as vinegar or lemon may damage the enamel glaze. As the back of the plate is unglazed, avoid leaving grease or strongly staining foods, such as tomato sauce, on the surface for extended periods.
